Poor Vocal Skill is the No 1 Enemy of a Powerful Gospel Voice

Gospel Singing is a heavy vocal style and can take it's toll on your vocals if sung with lack of understanding about the voice and how it works.

The symptoms of poor vocal  skills include:
                              • Straining
                              • Reaching
                              • Pushing
                              • Pulling Up
                              • Pain
                              • Hoarsness
                              • Dryness
                              • Soreness
                              • Gagging
                              • Coughing
                              • Muscle Tension in neck and shoulders
                              • Weak and limited upper range

If you experience any of these symptons whilst singing in the choir or praise team, then your vocal skills are poor and you need some vocal training.

                              Screaming and Shouting
                              is NOT Singing!

                              Picture
Gospel Singers are prone to nodules (also known as screamer's voice) on the vocal cords due to excessive vocal pressure.
Contrary to popular belief, screaming or shouting at the top of your voice in the choir is not singing. In fact, it is the worst way to sing gospel and the best way of permanantly damaging your voice.

Coaching with a good competant vocal coach will help you gain control over your singing and put a stop to restriction in your voice.

SOS Vocal Training provides an alternative to Vocal Coaching for Christians who want to work with a Christian Coach and learn a gospel /contemporary vocal approach.

                              Picture
Everyone in a gospel choir can naturally sing.

Not True. It is true the gospel sound can be inspiring and uplifting to listen to but not every singer can naturally sing. Some singers need coaching to gain control over their vocals and build strong singing skills.

                              Benefits of Coaching

Even the most professional singer uses the services of a vocal coach to help them maintain strong singing skills. That's because over time the voice can lose it's quality if good technique is not maintained.  Read about vocalists who have lost their voice.

Many, Many Choir directors teach this method of singing hard from the diaphramgh for a powerful sound, but it is incorrect.  A deep breath does not a powerful choir make.
