A Real Need

SOS recognises there is a real need for solid gospel vocal training among singers in church who constantly struggle in
the choir or praise team and aims to fill the gap in training by providing an alternative to secular vocal training.
We have reportoire of contemporary christian gospel songs that we use to train and vocalists are more than welcome to bring their own songs to work with  too.

Lessons are recorded either by video for real time visual feedback or by audio recorder.  You will need to bring your own Voice recorder, ie Mobile Phone. Video Equipment is provided by the coach.

You are expected to attend every week in your agreed time slot, however we are flexible if work shift patterns dictates the time you can attend. Please call to discuss.

You can choose between face to face lessons in Luton or Skype from anywhere in the UK or World.

How long does it take to learn how to sing? This depend on ability and how much practice you put in. You can expect to feel, hear and see a difference to your vocals within your first 5 lessons.

How many lessons will i need?Again, this depends on your ability and how much practice you put in in your own time.  Professional singers still continue to use a vocal coach  to maintain their skills years after initial learning. However if you want to simply get control over your singing skills this may not be necessary and you should reasonably give yourself a good 3-6 months of continuous training.

I have always had problems with my singing. Can i really learn how to sing? The simple answer is Yes. If you are in general good vocal health there is nothing to stop you from learning how to sing successfully.

I have never had any training. Do you work with beginners too?  Yes. Most of our students are  beginners or who can generally sing but need help in a specific area ie range. 

I sing in the choir at church but struggle to hit high notes. Can you help with this ? Yes. This is the most common problem we work with singers to overcome.

How is my progress assessed?  Goals are set every week and recorded on exercise sheets for practice at home. Lessons are planned and the coach keeps a record.



What subjects are covered in the training?  We cover 5 main principles to successful gospel singing. These are: Breathing, Posture, Vocals, Aural Skills and Self Awareness. Within these subjects we cover range, voice/body support, tone, music theory, pitch, vocal health, dynamics, reportoire, belting and much more.

How much does a lesson cost?  Single Lessons are £28 each and are booked in blocks of 4. Booked online today or via phone on 07733 534 529 and save 10%

What happens if want to cancel a lesson? If you cannot attend a lesson we ask for 48 hrs notice and you will not lose the lesson.  Less Than 48 hours and the lesson will be lost.   No refunds are given but lessons can be rescheduled at your convenience.

Can a coach come out to my home to teach? Yes. within a 10 mile radius. There is an extra charge of £10 to cover travel costs. If you want a coach to come further than 10 miles please call to discuss.
